Witch Week is coming!

What is Witch Week?

  • A. The week between Halloween (October 31) and Guy Fawkes Day (November 5).
  • B. A book by Diana Wynne Jones.
  • C. A blog event cooked up 5 years ago by me, hosted this year by Calmgrove and Lizzie Ross.
  • D. The perfect time to celebrate favorite fantasy books and authors.
  • E. All of the above.

The correct answer, of course is E!

I do hope you’ll consider participating in this wonderful event, focusing this year on the theme Fantasy and Feminism. The readalong book is The Other Wind by Ursula K. Le Guin, the final book in the Earthsea series, so if you’d like to do a complete series reread now is a great time to start. (Did you know 2018 is the 50th anniversary of the publication of A Wizard of Earthsea?)

I’m contributing a review of Circe by Madeline Miller and also participating in the TOW discussion together with Chris and Lizzie. I can’t wait to see what else they’ve dreamed up.

Be sure to connect with the hosting blogs to get all the news, and join us starting with a preview on October 30.

Thanks, Lory. Chris and I are thrilled to be hosting, and even more thrilled that you’ll be part of our event. We hope to see lots of people dropping by both blogs and posting comments and questions.

  2. I second Lizzie’s comment, and hope that bloggers who are readers will be excited by the line-up which we’ll be posting on both blogs in due course. Thanks, as always, for your support and encouragement, Lory!

I can’t wait for this! I’ve always been fascinated by your Witch Week and love the Earthsea books. That said, I hope I can find The Other Wind.
