Month in Review: July 2018

Posted August 5, 2018 by Lory in blog housekeeping / 26 Comments

This month I went away on vacation and took along a few newer books in contrast to the abundance of classics and backlist titles I’ve been reading. There was at least one I really loved…look for a review soon to find out which one!

  1. It sounds like July was a good reading month for you, Lory – I hope August proves to be a cracking month, also. Best of luck with Les Miserables:)

  2. Oooh, I’ve been a bit afraid to read Jane, Unlimited. I loved the Graceling series, but the new one sounds…weird? And has mixed reviews? And, call me shallow but–such an ugly cover! So I’ll look for your review of that to help make the final decision.

    Happy August!

    • I know, I can’t help being influenced by cover designs. Jane, Unlimited was certainly different from Graceling, so I can see why fans of one might not love the other.

  3. Ha, well I know which one you didn’t love! 🙂

I’ve read The Angel Inn (a long time ago now) translated by Joan Aiken, is that the version you read? I seem to remember that it was rather of its time but also definitely Aikenish, I can see why she was drawn to it.
