Blog break, and Elizabeth Goudge Day

Posted April 10, 2018 by Lory in announcements, blog housekeeping / 22 Comments

Dearest blog reading friends, as I’ve indicated in a few recent posts life is a bit much for me at the moment. I’m finding it takes way too much energy to even think about writing reviews or other posts, and so I need to take a break until I get my blogging impulse back. I’m not going to make any predictions about how long this will take, but at least a few weeks if not more.

I am all right, but a ton of unfinished emotional business is crashing in and I have to sort it out. I will get it sorted, I’m sure, and will hopefully be back to this beloved hobby at some point, not to mention some semblance of normal life. In the meantime it makes a difference to me to know that you are out there, living your own most valuable lives, and holding in common our love of the word.

Also in the meantime, I’m pleased to say that Elizabeth Goudge Day will be happening again this year on April 24, hosted by Howling Frog Books and Jorie Loves a Story! I think going to pick up Gentian Hill, which has been on my TBR shelf for a while — it sounds like a lovely historical romance, just what I need at the moment. Do check out Jean and Jorie’s blogs for more info.

Until we read again…

  1. Sometimes we need to take breaks! I hope yours is restful and I think you will love Gentian Hill. The world is too much with me lately and I hold on to the blogging as something of my own, but a rest every so often is important. Hope to see you feeling restored soon.

  2. I hope you have a restful, restorative break and that you get everything sorted out. And that you’re also able to fit in a few wonderful books! πŸ™‚

  3. I’ll miss you! But I’m struggling with blogging myself right now, so I understand. I wish you the best as you work through whatever is going on in your life, and hope that you’ll find the break both helpful and relaxing. And enjoy Gentian Hill! It is one of my favorite Goudge books.

Everyone needs a break, even from a hobby. Enjoy, recover, refuel — whatever you need, and we’ll see you back here when you’re ready.

  5. Oh very best wishes to you Lory, and hope that everything comes back in balance soon. May your break be refreshing. I’ll miss you until you’re back! πŸ™‚

  6. Have a relaxing break, Lory. I hope you like Gentian Hill. I’ve just finished reading it in preparation for Elizabeth Goudge Day and although it’s not one of my favourite Goudge books, I did enjoy it.

I wish you most well, Lory. It is true that what starts i’m sure as fun for all of us can at times become another chore, and we can need to rest from chores, and wait for them to become fun again
