…Witch Week, when there is so much magic around in the world that all sorts of peculiar things happen… —from Witch Week by Diana Wynne Jones
Welcome to the third annual Witch Week, an opportunity to celebrate our favorite fantasy books and authors. This year we’re focusing on the theme Made in America, and I hope you might feel inspired to join in by linking up your own posts about books set in the USA.
Or you may wish to join in the readalong of Something Wicked This Way Comes; or enter one of two fabulous giveaways; or enjoy some of the other reviews and interviews during the week. Here’s what I have planned:
Monday, October 31: An Introduction to American Gods (guest post by Kristen of We Be Reading)
Tuesday, November 1: Top Ten Reasons to Read Shirley Jackson (guest post by Jenny of Reading the End)
Wednesday, November 2: Giveaway Day – includes a US giveaway of Roses and Rot, an international ebook giveaway, and more
Thursday, November 3: An Appreciation of Oz (guest post by Deb of The Book Stop)
Friday, November 4: Author Interview with Kat Howard, author of Roses and Rot (guest post by Maureen of By Singing Light)
Saturday, November 5: Readalong of Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury (discussion with Chris of Calmgrove and Brian of Babbling Books)
Sunday, November 6: Wrap-up and 2017 Preview
Please use the linky below for your own posts; I can’t wait to see what you all have been reading! (You can also leave a comment or send an email to lory [at] emeraldcitybookreview [dot] com.) However you participate, I hope you enjoy the week as much as I have putting it together. Let the celebration begin!

Ooh, Witch Week! I forgot that was coming. I’ll be finishing up my re-read of A Discovery of Witches this week, but I’m not sure I want to review it again. And I’ve got at least one (non-witchy) ARC to read in the next 2 days… but I might see what I could squeeze in after it that would fit the theme. And of course, I’ll be by to check out the posts!

Any and all forms of participation are welcome. The main thing is to enjoy reading (or reading about) our favorite books!

I’m starting Rebecca Loncraine’s L. Frank Baum biography tonight. I’ve had it around for years and this is the perfect time to learn more about one of America’s best tale weavers. If I have time between this and the readalong, I’ll squeeze in a reread of one the Oz books too. 🙂

I thought about reading Schiff’s The Witches, but I’ve heard so many meh reviews about it. I wanted to add a history book because I feel my books are too confined to one general topic. But after reading Joy’s at Joy’s Book Blog review of White Trash, I might read that instead. It’s a history book as well. 🙂

Sounds like you’re overlapping with Nonfiction November, which is great! Once Witch Week is over I’ll be able to focus on that – White Trash is a title I had not come before and Joy’s review makes it sound very interesting.

Hi Lory, So far this morning I can’t make the Mr. Linky work. Can you tell if it’s set up for people to put in links?

Thanks for pointing that out – there was an error in the HTML. I think I’ve fixed it now, but please check.

Wish I had stumbled upon this sooner! I accidentally hit enter on my link before editing the text. My post is a review of Practical Magic (both the book and movie versions)!

I just put up my review for The Haunting of Hill House. While I am really familiar with the 1963 film of it, now I am even more impressed. Shirley Jackson gave them a lot to work with!

Book and film are on my to-read/watch list, for sure.

I promise to do better next year, but this bleepity election has me enthralled!
I shared a few thoughts on Something Wicked This Way Comes and the new Kelly Barnhill, The Girl Who Drank the Moon.
This was so much fun. I am glad to have gotten a proper read of The Haunting of Hill House, finally! Thanks for all the work you put into this, Lory.
