Actually I’ve been back from Switzerland for about a week, but it took me a while to pull myself together. Our trip was singularly without literary connections, but it was extremely beautiful. Here are a few shots (I’m trying out the slideshow function for the first time, so let me know of any problems).
On my return, I was greeted by a large pile of mail, mostly bills but also a few lovely packages including this one:
Four of the Slightly Foxed editions, a reprint series of marvelous memoirs brought back to life as beautifully bound hardbacks. I can’t wait to read and review these! And a few recent issues of Slightly Foxed Quarterly, an eclectic magazine for booklovers that never fails to amuse, enlighten and most of all add to my TBR pile. If by any chance you haven’t yet come across Slightly Foxed, do check out their offerings and prepare to be sorely tempted.
Among other things, coming up on ECBR is my review of Armadale by Wilkie Collins, which I read and enjoyed while I was away. I also have some brief reviews of recent releases to share for your summer reading pleasure. And I’ll be participating in Austen in August, with an assortment of fiction and non-fiction selections to choose from. Are you joining in? What’s on your list?

It looks like a lovely trip!
It really was.
Welcome back.
It seems like you had a great trip.
It is always nice to return from a trip with a stack of books waiting.
Thank you Brian! Now, to figure out what to read first…
Looks like you had a lovely time in Switzerland. Thank you for sharing some of your lovely photos 🙂 I am reading Mansfield Park for Austen in August.
Glad you liked the photos. It’s a beautiful place.
Glad you had such a wonderful time! Switzerland looks beautiful!
It’s a lot more gorgeous than my iPod photos!
Welcome back! I hope you have an easy transition back to the real world after what looks like a fabulous vacation!
It was great, but it is good to be back. I’m currently cleaning out my closet, which is actually a good thing — I never have time otherwise!
Love the slides, Switzerland is a place I’ve always wanted to visit. How was the food? Chocolate?
Swiss food is excellent, and the cheese and chocolate are to die for. Lots of mountain hiking proves to be quite necessary. 🙂
Lovely photos – I’m so jealous of all that mountainside beauty! I have never heard of Slightly Foxed though – I love the name – it’s so fun for a literary journal!
Love the name, love the journal. I’ll be posting a review soon.
